TOW BARS are fitted to all our nominal 2, 4, 4.5, 6 and 7
tonne payload trucks (other than those fitted with tailgate loaders).

Moving a houseload of furniture out of town and only have a car or light truck licence?
Why not consider one of our light trucks plus a trailer (yours or ours) - carry as much as a larger truck without the need for a special licence!

WHICH IS BEST -  A LOADING RAMP OR A TAILGATE LOADER?

All of our furniture trucks (including those with tailgate loaders) are fitted with slide out loading ramps - makes loading and unloading a breeze!

For extra heavy lifts we do have available trucks with hydraulic tailgate loaders HOWEVER if simply moving household effects there is no doubt that the slide out loading ramp is by far the quickest and most efficient medium to load and unload.

Click here for more information on tailgate loaders versus ramps.

My drivers licence says that I can drive a truck up to 4.5 tonne but the information above says that I can only drive a 2 tonner. Why?
The 4.5 tonne figure given on your licence refers to the vehicle mass (GVM), not its nominal payload - refer to our section on drivers licence classes for a fuller explanation.

Q & A - About Our Trucks

What destinations are available for your one way truck rentals?
a.gif (235 bytes) The one way rental of our trucks is available to any approved destination within mainland Australia providing the destination is regularly serviced by an intercity bus line or budget airline - tell us your proposed destination and way points (i.e. full details of your proposed route) and we will confirm the destination and provide you with a quotation.
Can I save money by returning the truck to the Meteor depot I collected it from, rather than than doing a one way?
a.gif (235 bytes) Unless you need to come back, the saving would be marginal, especially if you then need to travel back to your destination. If you need to come back it would be more economical to hire the truck on a return basis.

How much do I allow for fuel to my trip?
a.gif (235 bytes) We supply our trucks full of fuel - you need to allow for refuelling along the way, including topping up the vehicle when you have finished with it.

The following fuel consumption table is for use as a guide only - consumption will vary according to the way you drive, the type of body fitted, the weight being carried, and whether or not you're towing a trailer.

TRUCK: 1.5 TONNE 2 TONNE 4 TONNE 6 TONNE 7 TONNE
Litres per 100kms 15L 20L 22L 25L 270L

Use the following example to estimate the fuel cost for your trip:

EXAMPLE: 2 tonne truck one way from Cairns to Brisbane
Kilometres one way (allow neat + 50km for running around): 1775km
Divide kms by 100 /100
  17.75
Multiply by L/100kms (refer to above table): x 20L/100kms
Estimated fuel usage for trip: 355 Litres
Multiply by current fuel cost: x $1.35/litre #
ESTIMATED TOTAL FUEL COST: $479.25
# The fuel rate shown is not intended to be a reflection of current fuel costs - we recommend that you check your local pricing to arrive at a figure. Allow more for country areas.

Diesel at regular service stations can be more expensive than petrol. The best prices are usually found at truck stops or wherever truckies refuel.
